I want to start a blog. Just for my friends and family, so I don’t have to call everyone ever time something happens. I just found out I am pregnant, and I dont want to have to send pictures to 50 million different people. (you know what i mean.)

I am a recent college graduate, I am looking for a web design job, but how can I get a job and get professional experience if I don’t have any in the first place?

I’m thinking of starting a personal finance blog. The types of topics I plan to cover are: budgeting, building wealth, risk management, asset management, and other topics that, admittedly, can be a bit “dry” to many people. I want to attract a wide variety of people, not just bean-counters; I’d like it to be for everyone.
What would it take to make you read a blog like that? Humor? Some additional, more interesting topics? Bios of wealthy people? Contests?

I’m currently with a free blog site that does not permit advertising, but I’ve grown a pretty steady following. I’ve been thinking of switching to a pay-site that allows for advertising, but wouldn’t want the costs to be greater than the revenue. Do advertisers find you, or do you have to seek them out? I’ve heard some mention of Google Adsense (sp?). How do they work, and are there similar services?

I realize that there are loads of teen blogs everywhere, but I feel like I have a lot of expertise on style and beauty advice, etiquette tips, etc. What are some websites that serve as good foundations for blogs, and what computer skills do I need to have to start a blog?
