When you delete any friend from facebook, then the deleted friend will be removed from your friend list. He/she can still find you if they put your name in the search option. If you don't want him/her to find you on facebook, then you can block him/her after you have deleted him/her from your friend list. To block someone, just go to the privacy setting and put his/her name in the blocked people list. Enjoy facebook-ing!
